Obituary of Maria Mosquera

Maria Caridad (Mary) Mosquera passed away on January 26th 2024.

She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Our mother was an artistic, elegant woman who loved fashion and interior design. She was giving makeovers to others even before that practice existed. Her creative spirit touched the lives of everyone who came in contact with her.

She had a strong faith in God and was very devout of Our Lady of Charity (Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre) the patron saint of Cuba.

Mary was a strong, smart woman who was fortunate to realize many of her dreams. She loved life and kept her joy for life until the end.

Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now resting peacefully. As a dear friend remarked, “Heaven has gained an angel”. We know that now she is having a joyful reunion with her beloved “Laly” her husband of 36 years.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Juan Manuel Cruz, her mother Maria Borges de Cruz, her brother in law Manuel Arencibia, her beloved husband Galo “Laly” Mosquera and her dearest sister Esther Fernandez de Arencibia.

She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Maria E. Holcomb (Richard), Ileana Costa (Michael), her grandsons Michael Costa and Alan Holcomb, her nephew Jose Fernandez (Cyndi) and his children Bruce, Bryan and Jeanay.

A private service for the family will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 9th 2024.
