Obituary of Juan De Jesus Colon Ortiz

Juan De Jesus Colon Ortiz, 63, of Tampa, FL, passed away on December 31, 2023. Born on November 30, 1960, in Puerto Rico, Juan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Juan was known for his infectious smile and kind-hearted nature. He always had a positive outlook on life and brought joy to those around him. He had a passion for gardening and took pride in building things with his own hands. Juan also had a talent for cooking and enjoyed sharing his delicious meals with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and had a deep love for music.

Juan is survived by his loving wife, María E Colon Mercado, and their children, John D. Colon, Juan Colon Jr., Janice Cancel, Julissa Colon, Robert Cancel and Celia Colon. He was a proud grandfather to Alexandria Figuera, Deijhia Robinson, Briana Manley, Esperanza Watts, Meilani Montalvo, Ilianette Colón, Daniel Cainas, and Xavier Colon. Juan was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Kaiden and Avery Figuera. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, including his dear family friend, Pamala Levitt.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Segundo Colo, and his mother, Dionisia Ortiz.

A funeral service to honor Juan's life will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Florida Mortuary and Funeral Home in Tampa, FL. The details of the ceremony will be provided by the funeral home.
