Obituary of Margaret C. Walker
Margaret Carolyn Walker was born to Brigadiers Vernon and Mary Walker on November 16, 1936 in Manatee County, Florida. Her parents were Salvation Army Officers and Margaret often said that from her earliest days she was the assistant officer in each of her parents appointments. She was an only child and was involved, often as the leader, in all the corps programs as she grew up. Margaret became a proficient piano player and her parents relied on her to be the corps pianist at each of their corps appointments.
After high school Margaret pursued a degree in education. When her father retired in Tampa she took a job teaching at Hillsborough Community College and taught there until she retired in 2000.
In recent years Margaret's health kept her from attending worship and other activities at the Tampa Corps. But for those of us who had the privilege of knowing and worshipping with her for more than 40 years, we remember how much she loved the corps and her coprs family. Through the years she worked, mostly behind the scenes, helping wherever she was needed. In the years since her retirement, Margaret supported and invested so many of the youth programs of our coprs, always with a word of advice on how we could be more effective.
Matthew 25:23
His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things: enter into the joy of thy Lord
