Obituary of Albert F Dion

Albert Fredrick Dion, aged 75, of Tampa, Florida, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was born on January 3, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina. Albert, affectionately known as Al, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Due to his father's military service, Al's childhood was marked by residence in various locations, including Germany, South Carolina, and California, before ultimately establishing roots in Florida. In 1985, he relocated from Tallahassee to the Tampa Bay area, where he has resided ever since. Al, a child of the 1960s, found immense joy in helping others and lived his life to the fullest.

Throughout his life, Al devoted the majority of his time to residential construction. However, he was also a lifelong learner, driven by an insatiable curiosity that inspired numerous projects and enjoyable journeys. These projects ranged from crafting baby cribs for his grandchildren to fashioning leather purses to fund college education, from assembling computers for friends to his most recent endeavor of creating custom hats for both himself and anyone interested. Al was a veritable treasure trove of knowledge, and you could always rely on him to possess insights on various topics, guiding you in the right direction.

Al will be profoundly missed by his surviving family members, including his devoted wife of 31 years, Barbara Dion, children Jesse Dion and Karin Carmello, daughter-in-law Jennifer Dion, and grandchildren Wyatt and Hayden Dion. Al was preceded in death by his mother Louise Dion, father Albert H. Dion, sister Sharon Higgins, and son Paul DeBlasis.

A celebration of Al's life will be held at Village Presbyterian Church on November 6th at 11 am, reception to immediately follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, Barbara kindly requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of Al's memory and his unwavering commitment to helping others.
