Lidia Rodgers

Obituary of Lidia V. Rodgers

Lidia Valdés Rodgers was a beloved mother, wife, and aunt. Lidia had a great sense of humor, was usually the life of the party and always had a witty idiom to share. Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, she immigrated to America in 1968 and in later years, became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She retired from the Hillsborough County School System after 30 years of service where students, faculty and staff alike, loved her!

She is preceded in death by her son Enrique Marrero Jr. and her husband James Rodgers. She leaves behind her loving son Eric Marrero his wife Sabina, three brothers, one sister and several nieces and nephews. Lidia was greatly loved and will be greatly missed!

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
