Obituary of Patricia Suzanne Neil

Patricia “Sue” Suzanne Neil, 73, passed away surrounded by her children and covered in love on Sunday, August 29, 2021.  Sue was born on January 25, 1948 to the late Ret. Army Col Arthur J. Estes and Jeanne Estes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jeffery Estes and loving husband Lawrence Harold Neil.  Sue is survived by her sons Chris Neil and Matt Neil, daughters-in-law Maggi and Melissa, her grandchildren Gloria, Mary, Faith, Grace, Jackson, and Jacob. As well as her sister Sharron Knapp, brother-in-law Rick Knapp, and nieces Mary Elizabeth and Debbie and their families.  As well as a huge extended family through marriage that will continue to love and miss her every day.

Although Sue was born in San Francisco, California, she spent her childhood all over the world thanks to her father’s military career. That love for traveling followed her for life. She was always ready for a road trip or cruise with family or friends.  She attended Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing.  Sue spent her life caring for others as a registered nurse.  She spent 35 years of her career at Memorial Hospital of Tampa and loved every minute of it.   Since retiring Sue had returned to volunteer in the Candy Shoppe, just so she could still be where she loved. 

In her younger days, Sue loved watching her boys play sports and could always be counted on to help whatever team they were on when needed. In the past few years, Sue had become very involved with her granddaughters as a Girl Scout volunteer in every capacity from troop leader to neighborhood new scout recruiter. On any given weekend in early Spring, she could be found working a cookie booth to help them reach their goals.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy 33609.  Visitation will be at 12:00pm.  Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00pm, followed by a luncheon in the McLoughlin Center.
