Obituary of Eleanor Ann Mitchell

Eleanor “Ann” Tompkins Mitchell

7/30/1934 – 1/26/2021

Ann Mitchell was called to her heavenly home on the morning of January 26, 2021 at the age of 86.  She was born in Bullock County, Alabama, to James M. and Thelma L. Tompkins.  She was married to James “Jim” E. Mitchell for 54 years prior to his passing in 2008.  She is survived by her 4 children, Susie Banks (Gary), Steve Mitchell (Kim), Diana Nunez (Ron) and Tommy Mitchell (Sarah), 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren (another one due in April).

Ann lived a wonderful life, bringing so much joy to those who knew her. She adored her four children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as friends and relatives (the feeling was mutual).   She was a faithful Christian, a loving wife, an amazing cook, crafter (porcelain dolls, ceramics, crochet, seamstress, etc.), puzzle master and loved hosting family and friends in her home.  Her daily walk with neighbors was something she looked forward to each day.  So many loved ones have fond memories of the “Mitchell home”where she made everyone feel very special.  Her volunteer work in the hospital was very important to her in her earlier years, as well as more recently at St. Joseph’s Hospital Main Campus in Tampa.  Ann was a member of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church.  Her love and humor will surely be missed by all.

A private family service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the American Cancer Society.
