Obituary of Enid C. Benoit

Most people would describe Enid Claudia Benoit as a sweet and gentle Christian soul with a giving heart and an infectious laugh.  She was all of those qualities and so much more.  She was a prayer warrior that often wrote her own prayers and kept a list of people to pray for throughout her day.  She loved to laugh and would crack jokes to make those around her laugh and smile.  She was incredibly kind and would give whatever she had to help a family member, friend, neighbor or even a total stranger. Enid was a strong, independent and fearless woman that had the foresight from a very young age to seize and create opportunities, in order to provide for her family and future generations.  

Enid was born on February 11, 1924 in St. Andrews, Grenada to the late Eustace and Louisa Benoit.  As a young adult, she possessed the resilience and bravery to not only relocate from Grenada to Trinidad, but she relocated again in her later years to the United States, leaving everyone and everything she’d known behind.  She understood this decision would enable her to better provide for her family and grant her loved ones future access to opportunities beyond what Trinidad could offer at the time.

Throughout her life, Enid enjoyed reading the Bible and sharing passages with her friends and family; however, her greatest impact as a Christian woman came from showing the love of God through her actions every day.  We are blessed to learn so much from this mild mannered, sweet woman who loved unconditionally and touched so many lives with her kind and giving heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

On July 27, 2020, Enid Claudia Benoit was called home to our Beloved Father in Heaven.  She is the sister of the late Agatha, Violet, Lynford, Errol, Carlton, Edna and Bertrand.

She is survived by her children Ingrid (Clyde), Carol, and Cecil (Martha); grandchildren Alicia, Gina, Gino, Nicole, Hannah, Sarah, Emma, Liselle, Solange, Charisse and Dominic; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; as well as her sister Myra.
