Robert Canalejo

Obituary of Robert Canalejo

Robert Canalejo joined his wife (Lucy Montesino)on July 15, 2020. He too was a life long resident of Tampa and grew up in Ybor City. He loved all the women in his life - Lucy, Brenda, Denise, Linda and Carmen . . . who were often the brunt of much of his humor. He took refuge in his art and was a prolific painter. He had a long career with Pepsi Cola working alongside his brother, Tony, they painted the Pepsi advertising signs and billboards back when it was all done by hand.

Robert was proud of his work but even prouder of his family who he leaves behind: his daughters, Brenda Canalejo and Denise Canalejo, stepdaughters Linda Munoz Kollmorgen and son-in-law Dennis Kollmorgen and Carmen Munoz and partner Ann Galindo; Grandchildren, Kristin (Kollmorgen) and Roy Istvan, Jason Kollmorgen, Jennifer (Lucia) and Ryan Kollmorgen, Kourtney (Kollmorgen) and Jason Collette, Crystal (Housh) and Justin Kollmorgen, Robert Munoz and Steven Munoz, and 11 great grandchildren Jaylin, Kambria, and Zachariah Istvan, Xavier, Lila, and Sabrina Collette, Olivia, Ryan, and Myles Kollmorgen, Ella and Leila Kollmorgen, and her sister in-law Isabel Montesino.  He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ina Canalejo, his brothers Daniel Canalejo, Tony Canalejo and Margie (Tintiera) his sister Elaine (Canalejo) and Danny DelRio.

Robert was a talented, proud, and feisty man who could bring a room to tears with his inappropriate jokes. We are positive he is up there sharing his new material with his long awaited loved ones. His family will announce a time and place in the upcoming months to honor Robert Canalejo, his suspenders and his paintbrushes.
