Lucy Canalejo

Obituary of Lucy Canalejo

Lucy Canalejo would like to let you know that her work here on earth was done as of July 11,2020, one month short of her 92nd birthday.  She received an important call, the sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning.  This assignment comes with wings and an awaited reunion with her dearly loved mother and siblings; Margarita, Gloria, Frank and other family members and friends that she has not seen in a long time.

Lucy was a life long resident of Tampa.  Growing up in Ybor City, she loved all that was Ybor . . . The history, food, culture, architecture, and diversity.  Ybor was where she first lived, played, loved and worked for years at Agliano’s.   She was an accomplished, determined and dedicated woman, who believed in a job well done, treating others as you’d like to be treated and always . . . family first!

Lucy was immensely proud of her family . . .she leaves behind her husband of 66 years Robert Canalejo, her daughter Linda Munoz Kollmorgen and son-in-law Dennis Kollmorgen, daughter Carmen Munoz and partner Ann Galindo, stepdaughters Brenda Canalejo and Denise Canalejo, Grandchildren;  Kristin (Kollmorgen) and Roy Istvan, Jason Kollmorgen, Jennifer (Lucia) and Ryan Kollmorgen, Kourtney (Kollmorgen) and Jason Collette, Crystal (Housh) and Justin Kollmorgen, Robert Munoz and Steven Munoz and 11 great grandchildren Jaylin, Kambria, and Zachariah Istvan, Xavier, Lila, and Sabrina Collette, Olivia, Ryan, and Myles Kollmorgen, Ella and Leila Kollmorgen, and her sister in-law Isabel Montesino.  Lucy was predeceased by her mother Margarita Valdes Parks, her sister Gloria (Montesino), brother-in-law Prudence Vallejo and her brother Frank Montesino.

She left instructions for all the people she loved:  to love and care for each other always and to celebrate her life which has now been completed.
So . . . “A Celebration of Life” will be announced in the upcoming months.
