Obituary of Herman Voiles

Herman Voiles, 81, recently of Tampa, Florida, died May 10, 2020. He was born February 28, 1939, in Bulls Gap, Hamblen County, Tennessee, and lived all of his early years in the Poplar Grove, Illinois area where he graduated from North Boone High School, class of 1957.  He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois then served as an officer with the Rockford Illinois Police Department 

In the early 1960s, Herman moved to Dallas, Texas, where he married Mary Birute Diciunas of Rockford, Illinois and began his career in marketing with Austin Hardware Supply Company.  After retiring in 2001, Herman and Mary moved to New Port Richey, Florida.  In 2005 they decided to return to Texas and live near Alba where they spent much of their time pursuing their favorite activities of hunting and fishing.  

Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Mary, his grandson David Michael Jones, his parents Henry and Hettie (Houston) Voiles, his sisters Mary and Barbara, and his brothers George and L.C. 

Herman is survived by his children Karen (Ron) Dovin, Lori (Kirk) Whelchel, and Tricia Voiles, all of whom reside near their mother Kay Collins Olson in Ottawa, Illinois.  He is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brother Price of Tampa, Florida and his sister-in-law Nijole (Jeff) King of Woodland, California.
